Making less energy desirable, in a world obsessed by more
The economy is built on the notion of ‘more’. But using more and more harmful energy has brought us to the brink of a climate catastrophe.
EECA Te Tari Tiaki Pūngao wanted to make living and doing business with less energy a mainstream aspiration.
Gen Less is a new generation of people of all ages, united against climate change by using less energy. Gen Less challenges New Zealanders to scrutinise our decisions as individuals, and as a society, to rethink our collective approach to energy, from the smaller steps in our daily lives, to the larger systemic shifts we need to make together.
The ‘less than’ sign is our symbol. A powerful mark for businesses and individuals to show the world they support taking Gen Less actions, with 245 of New Zealand’s leading businesses already committing to the Less economy. From logistics and manufacturing, to dairy, banking and tourism – they represent the start of the seismic shift that will be required across the entire commercial landscape.
